Media Blasting

Lakeside Interior Contractors, serving Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan, recently added a full range of media blasting to its services repertoire. With our acquisition of a Graco EcoQuip 2, a self-contained and towable high powered blasting machine. The Eco Quip 2 is defined as Vapor Abrasive Blasting Equipment. Vapor abrasive blasting (also known as wet abrasive blasting) removes coatings, contaminants, corrosion and residues from hard surfaces. It’s similar to dry blasting, except that the blast media is moistened prior to impacting the surface, reducing dust significantly and also reducing the amount of water used when compared to traditional wet blasting.

In fact, compared to other wet abrasive blasting equipment EcoQuip 2 delivers many positive differences. For instance, some might claim that their products are “dustless” or “dust-free,” but the reality is there is no such thing. Sure, using a wet abrasive blasting machine will cut down on the plume of dust you get from dry blasting, but you’re also left with a puddle of water. With Graco’s EcoQuip 2 Vapor Abrasive blast equipment, you will see up to 92% dust suppression over dry blasting without the wet, slurry mess you get from traditional wet abrasive blasters.

With ultra-low dispersal characteristics, EcoQuip systems can be used almost anywhere, including enclosed spaces, or in locations that need less containment than if you were sandblasting. Because EcoQuip emits less dust than traditional dry blasting and uses less water than wet or slurry abrasive blasting technologies, contractors are able to handle blasting requirements as varied as the following:

Industrial Surface Preparation
Coatings removal and steel surface prep to be free of grease, dirt, dust, mill scale, rust and paint

Restoration and cleaning projects involving the removal of corrosion, grime, coatings and surface dirt

Marine Maintenance
Vessel Cleaning and surface prep removing barnacles, biofilm, corrosion and coatings

Graffiti Removal
Spray paint and graffiti removal from building surfaces

Basic Blast Cleaning
Surface cleaning and preparation with removal of dirt, mold, paint, coatings

With these expanded service capabilities we’re able to offer abrasive material blasting options as widely ranging as sand, corn cob, vapor, walnut shells, soda and glass bead. Our new Graco EcoQuip 2 machine helps us provide another service feature that keeps Lakeside Contractors a unique vendor for your construction services needs.
