At Lakeside Interior Contractors, jobsite safety starts with preparation. This year, 31 members of our team completed training in CPR/First Aid, AED use, and Bloodborne Pathogens (BBP) at our office.
The class was led by Greg Burkhart, Director of Safety and Training for the Associated General Contractors of Northwest Ohio, using the Medic First Aid program. Greg walked our team through common first aid situations and medical emergencies, demonstrated proper use of an automated external defibrillator (AED), and covered how to recognize and respond to bloodborne pathogen exposure on commercial construction and interior finishing jobsites. He also showed everyone chest compressions and rates on a manikin and had everyone execute it to confirm proper technique.
BBP training is required annually by OSHA for employees exposed to bodily fluids, and this course put both CPR and first aid renewal on the same two-year cycle, keeping our team’s safety certifications organized and current.
We’re proud of our team members for building these life-saving skills. Whether newly certified or renewing, every trained Lakeside employee is better equipped to keep our jobsites — and each other — safe, reinforcing the safety-first culture our clients across Toledo, Northwest Ohio, and Southeast Michigan have come to expect from us.
