After more than three decades of dedicated service and relentless focus on customer excellence, Lakeside Interior Contractors is celebrating the retirement of Randy Deniston, Partner. Since 1993, Randy has been an integral part of Lakeside’s growth and success, helping to shape the company into the trusted multi-disciplined contractor it is today.
Randy’s journey with Lakeside began after he closed his own construction business and joined the team with a wealth of experience already under his belt. Having started in the construction industry straight out of high school, working in Dallas, Texas, Randy brought a hands-on understanding of the trades and a genuine passion for building lasting customer relationships.
“I’m Not in Sales, I’m in Solutions”
This personal tagline perfectly encapsulates Randy’s approach throughout his 33-year career at Lakeside. Rather than simply closing deals, Randy focused on understanding customer needs and delivering solutions that exceeded expectations. His customer-oriented philosophy helped Lakeside build and maintain relationships with countless clients over the years.
“Randy’s impact on Lakeside cannot be overstated,” states Mike Mayo, Lakeside President. “For 33 years, he has embodied what it means to put customers first. His dedication to finding solutions and exceeding expectations has been instrumental in our company’s success and reputation. While we’ll miss Randy tremendously, we’re excited for him to enjoy this well-deserved next chapter.”
Building More Than Projects
Throughout his career, Randy takes pride in having grown with the company and Lakeside’s extensive customer base, built over the decades. What he loved most about the work was knowing that Lakeside’s craftsmanship is what people see and appreciate daily, the visible quality that makes a lasting impression.
Randy’s advice to his younger self reflects his evolved business philosophy: “Apply more focus to customers in lieu of bidding everything on the street.” This customer-first mindset has been a guiding principle not just for Randy, but for the Lakeside culture he helped create—a family-like work environment built on quality and customer orientation.
A Well-Deserved Retirement
Randy and his wife, Kris, who have been married for 35 years, are entering retirement with exciting plans ahead. They’re building a new home in Defiance, complete with a big pond that will be perfect for Randy’s favorite pastime… ice fishing! (Yes, Randy is an avid ice fisherman, which surprises many who know him!)
The couple is looking forward to spending more time with their daughter and two grandchildren. High on Randy’s bucket list? Taking his grandson fishing, creating memories on that new pond and passing along his love of the sport.
When they’re not at home, you might find Randy and Kris traveling to warm, tropical locations where they can enjoy the sun and relax together. Randy’s other hobbies include golfing and enjoying all varieties of music. And for the record—he’s an Ohio State fan through and through.
A Lasting Legacy
For those considering a career in the trades, Randy offers this perspective: “The trades are a great way to make a very good living without the debt of college.” It’s advice that reflects not only his own successful path but also his belief in the value and dignity of skilled craftsmanship.
The entire Lakeside family extends heartfelt gratitude to Randy for his 33 years of dedication, leadership, and commitment to excellence. His influence will continue to be felt in the company culture, customer relationships, and quality standards he helped establish.
