Project Description:
Addition of chapel elevator
To accommodate the Sisters of St. Francis who needed easier access to the Queen of Peace Chapel mezzanine area, they requested an elevator in the chapel. The balcony hosts the organ and choir area so having an option to access the space, other than the staircase, was important.
Installing a lift that would be both seamless and attractive to the current interior design required careful and thoughtful planning. The Lakeside team worked with the general contractor to ensure the elevator installation would complement the gorgeous chapel while also ensuring it would meet compliance and code. The structure surrounding the elevator was completed to match the custom woodwork and trim around the organ pipes in the balcony. The end result is a stunning framework that meets the practical needs of the Sisters and their guests.
